An Open Mic for Open Minds
New Voices Open Mic is proud to announce a new night and a new name! Mouthful: An Open Mic for Open Minds will meet every second Friday of the month to turn the mic over to your original writing in any genre - and after the reading we’ll adjourn to a local eatery to chat informally about writing and whatever else comes to mind. Come to read or come to listen: our goal is to build a community of writers and readers that supports women and their allies. 7:15 PM signup, 7:30 PM start
$5 donation requested at the door.
Dawn Paul is celebrating her new novel, Still River, with a reading at Mouthful. Brian Jewell of Bay Windows has described Still River as “…a delicate, carefully observed tale of two families and two friendships, and the unexplored erotic undercurrents that take people by surprise, like unexpected white water leaving you exhilarated but shaken.” Dawn writes fiction, poetry and plays and has created collaborative works with actors, dancers and visual artists. Her work has appeared in Seal Press anthologies about women and the sea and women’s wilderness adventures and in Best Lesbian Fiction 2005. Her short fiction has also appeared in The Sun Magazine, 14 Hills and The Redwood Coast Review, and online at Blithe House Quarterly, Hiss Quarterly and Storyglossia. She has been a writing resident at the Ragdale Foundation and the Vermont Studio Center and is a graduate of the creative writing MFA program at Goddard College. Dawn also teaches and is the editor of Corvid Press. She is also proud to be one of the curators of Mouthful.
