Boundless and The Queer Asian Pacific Alliance are proud to host a sneak preview performance by The Theater Offensive of the premiere of Surviving the Nian , an original musical by Melissa Li & Abe Rybeck, directed by Patrick Wang.
After five years away in Boston, Kaylin Wu finally returns home to Hong Kong to celebrate the New Year with her family and introduce them to her black lover, Asha. The gripping and amusing story of Kaylin and her family escalates through the traditional fifteen-day Chinese New Year festivities. This groundbreaking show reveals how families in even the most foreign lands are, well, familiar.
Following the performance the Queer Asian Pacific Alliance will facilitate a social discussion on the musical, cross-cultural dating, and more.
