Have you ever read a clever essay in your favorite magazine or newspaper and thought, "I can do that!"? Hear expert advice on the process of writing and selling essays from successful wordsmiths Barbara Beckwith, Edith Pearlman and June Lemen and get those ideas out of your notebook and into print.
Participant Bios
Barbara Beckwith is a freelance writer and activist whose articles and essays have appeared in the Christian Science Monitor, New Age, Yoga Magazine, and Season of Adventure (Seal Press.) She is co-author of Standing Up to the SAT.
June Lemen is a humor columnist for the Nashua Telegraph. Her essays have also been published in Ms., Smithsonian, New Age, Nashua and Manchester magazines. She is currently working on a novel.
Edith Pearlman's short essays have appeared in the Atlantic Monthly, Smithsonian, Preservation, and Yankee. She also writes travel pieces and her most recent collection of short stories, How to Fall, won the Mary McCarthy Prize.
