On a Grand Scale: Body Positive Art Show & Sale
An art show and sale featuring body-positive art
Thursday, August 3 @ 6:00PM
Visual artists from around the country are donating their body-positive,
size-accepting works to this exciting show. The list of contributing artists is growing, with works from Laurie Toby Edison (photographer of Women En Large, Familiar Men, and Women of Japan), Jill Haney-Neal (creator of those fabulous fat-assed Wild Women), Nigel Morgan (Harlem-based graphic designer), chunkebusiness.com (Internet purveyors of fat-pride arts and crafts), and more. Boston-area artist Deborah Dixon is not only donating works, but also creating live gesture drawings of Big Moves dancers for sale at the show. You'll even be able to see the ass-print backdrop created for Big Moves'
recent six-show run at the Montreal Fringe Fest. Wine, cheese, and music make ON A GRAND SCALE a definite art happening (it's part of Jamaica Plain's First Thursday), with all proceeds to benefit Big Moves' fall 2006 Gargantua tour. For details, call 617-869-2970.
