
First Teacher, Parents Summer Institute
For Parents of Boston Public and other schools

The Urban League of Eastern Massachusetts will present the first First Teacher, Parents Summer Institute for parents of Boston Public and other school children. This year we have excellent workshops for parents covering timely topics such as their rights under the No Child Left Behind Act, how to do everything and then supervise homework too, understanding the value and power of school Parent Councils, getting a GED, as well as how and what books to buy to enhance a child's learning and entice him or her to love reading.
Two Train-the-Trainer workshops will occur during the Institute:
8 Keys of Life, is a literacy and attitudinal program for middle and high school students and their parents. This workshop will be held the weekend of July 15 at the Urban League' office 88 Warren Street in Roxbury.
Strong math, Shaky parents, is a math literacy program to attack math phobia in parents and to help parents understand the math homework their children bring home. This workshop will be held the weekend of July 22 at the Urban League's office 88 Warren Street in Roxbury.
The Institute will take place on on Saturdays, July 15 and 22 at the Vine Street Community Center, 339 Dudley Street in Roxbury. Welcome! To register please call: 617-4424519 extension 228
