
Events Coordinator Job Opening
The Center for New Words, a nonprofit feminist organization, seeks an Events Coordinator to help market and manage our year-round schedule of live public events.
This position offers stimulating contact with feminist writers, activists, and media players. It encourages creativity, independence, and dynamic collaboration with members of the Center for New Words staff.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience coordinating and publicizing community events
- Experience and comfort with public speaking
- Demonstrated skills in teamwork and collaboration with colleagues and community members
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative, work self-sufficiently, and pay obsessive attention to details
- Commitment to increasing feminists’ influence via writing, media and self-expression
- Computer savvy
As Events Coordinator, you’ll work with the Program Director of Center for New Words (CNW) to produce approximately 50 live events each year. You’ll also meet with the Executive Director of CNW for general supervision and evaluation.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
-Managing event logistics (booking & confirming venues, inviting speakers, event setup & management, ordering books and materials as necessary, etc.)
-Hosting events and overseeing setup and breakdown as needed.
-Planning and executing creative event marketing and community outreach, utilizing everything from the latest online social networking channels to old fashioned cold-calls, flyers, and mailings, as well as through the development and maintenance of positive relationships with community partners.
-Maintaining up-to-date-records of all events
-Asssiting with the planning and execution of Women, Action & the Media, our annual Conference, including volunteer and logistics management leading up to and during the conference.
This is an ongoing part-time position, 20 hrs/week. (There is a possibility that it could at some point be combined with a half-time administrative position to create a full-time job.)
